Gavan's Interests

My interests revolve largely around sport, with a bit of music thrown in for good measure.

Huge Manchester United fan since my early years. Football fanatic in general.

A few of my favourite football websites:

I'm also a major boxing fan or '#boxinghead', (pron. hashtag boxing head), and have had some work featured in Ring Magazine, 'The Bible of Boxing' - the biggest boxing magazine in the world.

Another boxing site which usually provides up-to-the-minute updates on the sport is the excellent BoxingScene:

Music-wise, I enjoy indie rock 'n' roll the most - but also find myself rapping a bit too often for the sake of the public ear. The Hype Machine is a music blog aggregator which provides brand new tracks and remixes from artists in the indie, dance and rap scenes.

Review of the College Year

Since enrolling in DBS last September I have learned a surprisingly large amount regarding my chosen field and course - Journalism.

The radio and television modules were particularly invigorating, and I was shocked by how intricate and technical productions in both fields are required to be. Radio with Gemma Hill was a brilliant experience, culminating in two radio shows which we recorded in the lead-up to Christmas. I presented one, the current affairs show which I found extremely challenging but fun to do. In our tv segment with Kenny Leigh, I made my directorial debut in 'Post-Recession Erection', a documentary on a builder and the tolls the recession has taken on his family and livelihood

The people in my class are generally sound, pints are sunk and stories are told. It's ideal really. Group work has been hilarious, written assignments less so. The photo exhibition Thursday two weeks ago was one of the highlights, also.
